Firlefanz wants to learn to cook and travels to the most famous chef in the world — together they create a delicious three-course meal!
Firlefanz woke up and sniffed. His tummy grumbled softly and happily. "Today," he said, "I want to learn to cook — a really delicious lunch!" He had dreamed of a famous chef: Master Chef Gustav Goldlöffel, the best cook in the whole world. He lived far away on the Island of a Hundred Scents and conjured the tastiest dishes.
In the kitchen, Firlefanz only ate a small slice of bread with honey and a crunchy apple. "Today I will eat little," he thought, "because there will be a big feast at noon!" He dreamed of steaming pots, golden soup, and sweet dessert. What could he possibly cook? Firlefanz was determined to find out.
Firlefanz ran to Papalapapp. He was sitting comfortably in front of his little house, sipping his morning coffee. "Papalapapp! I want to visit Master Chef Goldlöffel and cook a delicious lunch!" Papalapapp smiled. "He lives on the Island of a Hundred Scents, far across the sea. Should I come along?" "Oh yes, please!" cried Firlefanz.
Firlefanz got dressed for the big journey: the green hat, sturdy hiking boots, the warm jacket, and the walking stick. And because he wanted to cook, he also tied a clean apron around himself and tucked a wooden spoon in. "Ready?" asked Papalapapp. "Ready!" laughed Firlefanz.
And so they set off. Over seven seas, where the waves smelled of salt and wind. Over seven deserts, where the sand shone golden. Over seven high mountains, seven rivers, and through seven fragrant forests. Sometimes a soft cloud carried them a little way, sometimes birds sang gentle songs so that the journey didn't seem so long.
Finally, they reached the Island of a Hundred Scents. From afar, it smelled wonderfully of fresh bread, berries, herbs, and warm chocolate. In the middle of the island stood a cozy kitchen castle, from whose chimney delicate steam curled. "How it smells!" marveled Firlefanz and sniffed blissfully.
In the large, warm kitchen stood a round, cheerful chef with a tall white hat and a huge smile. "Welcome, Firlefanz! Welcome, Papalapapp!" "I am Gustav Goldlöffel. Today we will cook a lunch together with three courses — an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert!" Firlefanz jumped for joy.
First the appetizer. Together they cut a large, bright orange pumpkin and let it simmer gently in the pot. Firlefanz stirred with his spoon until a golden, creamy pumpkin soup was created. Goldlöffel drizzled a dollop of cream in. "Hmmm," tasted Firlefanz, "it tastes like sunshine!"
Then the main dish. They cooked colorful rainbow pasta and a gentle tomato sauce that bubbled happily in the pot. On top, Firlefanz placed small golden potato stars and a few green peas. "This looks like a feast fit for a king!" laughed Papalapapp and already set the table.
Finally, the dessert. Goldlöffel showed Firlefanz how to conjure a soft, fluffy strawberry cloud cake. They piled delicate cream on top like white clouds and placed sweet red strawberries on top. "Careful," giggled Goldlöffel, "otherwise you'll nibble before the meal!"
Then all three sat at the big table and ate their delicious three-course meal. It tasted so good that they all had seconds. As a farewell, Goldlöffel gave Firlefanz a shiny golden spoon. "With this, you can make any dish at home." Firlefanz hugged him tightly. "Thank you, Master!"
On the way home, Firlefanz and Papalapapp walked full and happy, over seven forests, seven rivers, seven mountains, seven deserts, and seven seas. When Firlefanz lay in his warm bed, he held the golden spoon gently in his hands. He closed his eyes and dreamed of golden soup, colorful pasta, and sweet strawberry clouds.
