Firlefanz Becomes a Knight

Firlefanz Becomes a Knight

In the Castle Silvermoon, a great adventure awaits — Firlefanz is knighted and rides in the tournament on a real unicorn!

Firlefanz woke up and stretched happily. The morning sun shone golden into the room through the window. Suddenly, he had a big wish: He wanted to visit a real knight's castle! With towers, a drawbridge, and shining armor.

In the kitchen, Firlefanz ate his millet porridge with pear puree and drank a big cup of warm milk. While doing so, he dreamed of fluttering banners and brave knights on noble horses. He absolutely had to experience it himself!

Firlefanz ran to Papalapapp. He was sitting in front of his door, enjoying his morning coffee. "Papalapapp! I want to visit a knight's castle!" Papalapapp smiled. "Ah, the Castle Silvermoon! Behind seven seas and seven mountains. May I come along?" "Yes, please!", shouted Firlefanz.

Firlefanz put on his green hat, laced up his sturdy hiking boots, and slipped into his warm jacket. He, of course, took his walking stick with him. Papalapapp packed a backpack with cheese sandwiches, nuts, and a bottle of raspberry lemonade. "Ready?", asked Papalapapp. "Ready!", shouted Firlefanz.

And so they set off. Over seven seas, where seagulls joyfully circled. Over seven deserts, where the sand sparkled golden. Over seven high mountains, seven rushing rivers, and through seven dense forests, until the towers of Castle Silvermoon appeared on the horizon.

The Castle Silvermoon was huge! Silver banners waved from the towers, and a drawbridge led over the sparkling moat. At the gate, they were welcomed by Count Knighthold — a friendly knight with a silver beard and a warm smile. "Welcome, Firlefanz! And welcome, Papalapapp! We have been waiting for you!"

Count Knighthold led Firlefanz into the festively decorated castle hall. All the knights stood lined up in their shining armor. "Kneel down, brave Firlefanz!", spoke the Count solemnly. He gently touched Firlefanz on the shoulder with his sword. "Hereby, I knight you! You are now Sir Firlefanz of Silvermoon!"

The knights presented Firlefanz with a long lance with a blue banner and a round shield with a golden star. Then they brought in a white unicorn! It had a silver mane and a glowing horn. It gently sniffed Firlefanz's nose. "This is Silverstar — he now belongs to you!", said Count Knighthold beaming.

The next morning, the great knight tournament began. Colorful tents decorated the meadow, fanfares sounded, and everyone was excited. Firlefanz rode Silverstar into the tournament field. He held the lance tightly, and his shield sparkled in the sun. "Firlefanz! Firlefanz!", shouted Papalapapp from the stands.

Firlefanz was brave and skilled. He rode so cleverly that all the spectators were amazed. One by one, they gave up. In the end, Firlefanz stood as the winner! Count Knighthold placed a laurel wreath on his head. "You are the bravest knight of the tournament!", he shouted. Everyone cheered loudly.

At the grand dinner, everyone celebrated together. There were warm pastries, fruit punch, and a cake shaped like a castle. When it was time to leave, Firlefanz hugged Count Knighthold warmly. "Can Silverstar really come with me?" "Of course!", laughed the Count. "Take good care of him!"

On the long way home, Firlefanz rode Silverstar while Papalapapp cheerfully walked beside him. Over seven forests, seven rivers, seven mountains, seven deserts, and seven seas. At home, Firlefanz leaned the shield against the bed and the lance against the wall. Silverstar got a place in the garden. Then Firlefanz closed his eyes and dreamed of fluttering banners, brave knights, and his shining white unicorn.
